Dr. Alex Ingrassia
For the past ten years, I have helped individuals and couples learn how to build healthy relationships and secure attachments with themselves and others, and to create sexual and emotional intimate lives that are richer, more connecting, and deeply bonding. As an Emotionally Focused Therapist, licensed psychologist and sex therapist, I use evidence-based modalities to help couples and individuals get to that end goal, whatever it may be.
When working with you, I will show up authentically as I accompany you in your struggles. I will be curious, compassionate, challenging. I will direct when needed and will collaborate with you so that you get the most out of our time together. As a therapist with a focus on attachment and patterns, I work to create a map of your life: the personal, generational, and cultural experiences that created the patterns you use to understand yourself and the world around you; where those patterns make you feel stuck and motionless; and pathways to move forward.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Widener University and have worked as an outpatient therapist in both community and private practice settings.
Outside of my therapy work, I enjoy playing the acoustic guitar, cooking spicy vegetarian dishes, and hanging out with my family: partner, toddler, three dogs, and two cows. I am a self-made handywoman and find there is nothing (almost nothing) I can’t fix! I care about a lot of things... but in particular, I care about animal rights, the environment, human rights, and the queer community.
